During the height of a heavy thunderstorm over Sydney to-day, lightning struck the G.P.O. lower,' which is the highest point in the city area, and running down the lightning conductor lit tip .a light well in the centre of the building with a dazzling blue glare., A number of telegraphists who were working nearby were temporarily blinded by its brilliancy, and telephono girls became panic-stricken. Several fuses were blown, but otherwise no damage was caused.
Electric trains were delayed when lightmngi struck the overhead wiring. After a vivid streak of lightning at Brighton ie Sands, Gloria Henderson, 11, of Newtown, was found in an unconscious condition lying on the sands at the local baths. Her body was not burned and some time after being admitted to hospital she regained consciousness. Dining the thunderstorm a fireball struck the chimney of a house in Mbs* mail, Imdly splitting it. While playing cards with some friends in .a house in Moore Park, Robert Milwood, 20, was struck by lightning. He was rendered unconscious for two hours, but finally recovered. Apart from a mark on the hack of tlie neck he was uninjured.
