Mr. T. A. Duncan has notified the Press Association that the Duke of Gloucester will have the mount on Black Man in the Ladies’ Bracelet at Marton on January 1, and will probably bo a visitor on the second day of tho races.

-Captain A. Curtis will probably have the mount on Conference or Tranquillity in the Bracelet.

Black Man, who is owned sby Mr. C. L Bull, son of Mr. James Buu, has the top weight, 13.2, to carry in the race.’ He is a.six-ycar-old gelding by Nigger .Minstrel, (brother to Desert Gold-) ’from Hnpiti, and this season has WOnt;H)Lr.eo.-, races..;. .He was successful in the Ladies’ Bracelet, of one mile and a quarter, at the Egmont-Tara-naki meeting, with ig.B, and on that occasion was ridden by his owner. Subsequently he • won. the Tutaenui Hack!.Handicap, six furlongs, at Marton, mnd the Kowhai Hack Handicap, one mile and a distance, at Feilding.

Mr. W. L. Young, a Well-known Wanganui’ sportsman, has presented a set of racing colors to Mr. 0. L. Bull for the Duke to wear in the race.
