A CAMPING CHRISTMAS
TRNTMAKERS SuSY
EFFECT OF HOT /WEATHER
One of the features of business during the present Christmas period is the particularly large demand for tents and other camping gear. Those businessmen in tjisborne who cater for this class of triple have had an exceptionally busv time.' their stalls have, been in order to keep pace with the demand, and one stated to-day that his supply of hired tents was exhausted. No doubt the abnormal spell ot early summer weather, with exccssivo heat, has increased the demand for camping gear. Those partly equipped have been supplementing their gear, and many without tents at all have been making purchases, or have been hiring Outfits. As a result of this activity, it would not be surprising to see a tremendous increase in the number of people spending Christmas under canvas, providing the weather holds good. Camping is always popular with Gisborne people, many going to Lake Rotoiti, Waikaremoana, Morere, Waipiro, Hicks Bay, and of more recent years to the southern roast of the Bay of Plenty, via the new East Coast scenic route.
