In reply to a Parliamentary question, Mr Anthony Eden stated that the exchange position in Brazil had 'been the subject of special study, and representations were being addressed to the Brazilian Government with a view to ensuring that British interests should not receive less favorable treatment than those of other countries. He added that the existing arrangement for the payment of the Brazilian external debt covered four years from April 1 last. Therefore, it appeared improbable that the exchange regulations recently introduced in Brazil would exercise any immediate effects on the interests of British bondholders.
