BRADMAN’S ESCAPE NO APPEAL FUR CATCH (Received Nov. 13, 2 p.m.) LONDON, Nov. 12. A. R. F. Chapman, speaking at, a dinner at the Savoy Hotel when Sir Walter Lawrence’s trophy commemorating the. fastest, century of the season was presented Frank Woolley for his 100 in 63 minutes against Northants, recalled that Woolley, when wicket-keeping in the final test, caught Bradman, but was so pleased with himself that lie forgot- to appeal, which showed his 'broadmindedness.
Woolley, interviewed, said the incident occurred when Bradman, in the, first innings. had scored five. “Sutcliffe was about to appeal.” lie added, “but 1 stopped him. Bradman subsequently told me that the ball came off his glove and he might have been out.”
