ADJOURNED TILL FEB. 13 IMPORTANT MEASURES (Per Press Association.) WHCLINGTON', this day. The House of Representatives adjourned till the ringing of the bells to permit of discussion between the managers of the House and Council regarding tlie clause in the Local Legislation Bill concerning a legacy left to the Hastings Hospital. When the House resumed Mr. J. A. Yeung reported that an agreement had been readied between the managers ot the respective Houses. The Prime Alinister, the Bt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, moved that the House should adjourn till February 13, and Diis was agreed to. Replying to Mr. 11. G. if. Mason, Mr. Forbes assured members that the legislation the Government would bring down would be ready for presentation to the House. It would he put through with the utmost dispatch. The legislation to be introduced would he the Mortgage Corporation Bill, the reorganisation of tlie Native Department, and native land settlement. The most, important legislation would he that affecting the Mortgage Corporation. It wits not. possible to deal with such lav-reaching financial proposals in a hurried way. j

Mr. Forbes referred to the most important measures that had been dealt with during the session, and congratulated the .Minister of Finance on the way he. had handled the tariff revision, finance bills, and companies’ Ads. Tie had showed a great deal of tact and ability in the way he presented those measures to the House. Asked about the date of the general election, Air. Forbes said he was not in a- position yet to state the date on Which it would be held, lint members would receive ample notice, Some smaller measures might lie presented at tlie autumn session, but no general legislation that would prolong the session. He conveyed to members the season’s greetings.

Mr. M. J. Savage reciprocated tlie Prime Minister’s greetings, and tlie House rose at 12.15 p.m.
