To-day’s North Island Report. Blue skies were reported throughout the North Island this morning. Moderate to fresh northerly breezes were general. The barometer had continued to fall slowly. Temperatures at i) o’clock were: Auckland and Napier (ifi> degrees, Tanranga, Opotiki, East Cape, Gisborne, and Wellington fi2. Rough sens were reported at Cape Campbell and Tauranga; elsewhere .moderate or smooth. Last Night’s Forecast An anticyclone has been moving slow. Iv eastwards off New Zealand, and an intense depression is advancing across the Tasman. Winds moderate to strong northerly, rising to gale force in places. Sens rough about Cook and Foveaux Straits and (forth of Fast Cape, elsewhere moderate, but rising soon south of Cape Egmotit. In the eastern Tasman, strong northerly winds to gales with rough seas. Weather, fair, warm and hazy generally at first, but clouding over, raiii developing in Westland and the far south, later conditions becoming unsettled and squally in most districts, with fairly widespread rain. Midday Forecast General inference: A depression is now moving on to New Zealand from the Tasman Rea. Barometers are already rising over the western Tasman.
