The vicissitudes of an old rowing trophy which was oft View at the Canterbury Rowing Club's jubilee dinner was the subject of comment by the chairman, Mr. f\ I. Cowlislinw. The cup was towed for,a regatta on the River ITeatheoio in lStvl. Then it disappeared and Mr. Cowlislinw bought it in a pawnshop many years later. The incident was given some prominence, and Mr. Cowlislinw received a letter from the surviving member of the crew that won the trophy, Mr. Chamberlain, of Dunedin.
