ANTI-GRAFT CAMPAIGN
MUNICIPAL POLITICS BRITISH LABOR MOVE ADVICE TO MEMBERS (Klee. Tul. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Received Nov. 5, 11 a.m.) LONDON, Nov. 4. “No councillors’ father, son or daughter shall be eligible for any office or situation within the gift or appointment of a council, nor enter a contract to do any work, directly or indirectly, lor a council," says (lie London Labor Party in one of the most candid anti-graft instructions ever issued, which is being dispatched as a memorandum for the guidance of every newly-elected councillor in London.
The memorandum, which was prepared prior to the elections by the party, of which Mr. Herbert Morrison is secretary, also declares that ex-councillors are similarly ineligible for. three months after their couneillorship ends.
. The memorandum adds: “The executive committee could, under no circumstances, defend improper practices (r influences in public administration. Contractors should be kept beyond arms’ length. The only place for decisions of ;t council’s business is the town hall. Councillors relations with the staff should
« mutually respectful, and not personally intimate, and councillors must not use their influence to secure appointments of individuals.”
