ANTARCTIC FLIGHT

ELLSWORTH EXPEDITION DECEPTION ISLAND REACHED Information was received at Dunedin on Wednesday that the Wyatt Karp, with Mr. Lincoln Ellsworth and his pilot, Mr. Bernt Balchen, on board, reached Deception Island some days ago. Preparations are now going forward for the spectacular flight across Antarctica to the Bay of Whales in the monoplane Polar tjtar, and as soon as the preliminary arrangements have been completed the aviators will set forth on their daring enterprise. The necessary work that lias to ho done beforehand includes the preparation of a taking-off ground, a thorough testing of the plane, and the establishment of radio communication. As soon as these matters have been attended to tlio time of starting will he solely dependent on the weather conditions.
