COOK COUNTY FINANCE
GRANT ACCOUNT BALANCES £3212 FOR TRANSFER A sum of £3212 is required to clear Cook County grant account balances, according to a report of the finance committee placed before the council to-day. The finance committee’s report stated : ‘‘Outstanding rates lists.—Lists of rates outstanding in the various ridings were presented to the committee and inspected. It was resolved that the committee he given a direction to properly consider these statements again in December, and thereafter make recommendations to the council as to further action considered necessary. “‘Donation to Y.M.O.A.—The chairman stated that an account of £lB 4s for stone from the Patutahi quarry and used in improvements and the tennis court had been brought to his notice. After full discussion it was resolved to recommend to the council that £9 be accepted in full settlement and the balance be shown as a donation to the Y.M.C.A.
“Outstanding balances in grant accounts.—A statement of balances standing in grant accounts in the county bal-ance-sheet was presented. This statement showed that £3212 was required to clear such balances. It was also pointed out that in a special account there was £I6BB which on application to the Minister of Public Works could be transferred to general account. It was resolved to recommend to the council that authority be obtained for the iransfeu of £I6BB to the general account, and that thereafter that amount of the debit balances he transferred to general ac-, count, provided the ridings concerned would make provision for finding the balance of the money during the next three years.” , In regard to the last matter, the chairman, Cr. Charles Matthews, said it' went back to 1924. The report was adopted.
