As a result oi a motor car accident on tlie Sunnier-Lyttelton road on tlie nigld of September 29, alter a dance at Sumner, when a car went, over nil embankment, Phyllis Kent Pliinriior was fined £1 and costs at Lyttelton to-day by the magistrate, Mr. H. A. doling, for negligent, driving. The poliee case rested on the fact that the car travelled on the wrong side of the road for 63ft. before going over the embankment.
The defendant pleaded not guilty, and said the engine was not functioning properly and the steering gear failed to act.
