TRIBUTE TO MINISTER ‘ OUTSTANDING PURCHASE ’ A tribute to the Minister of Lands, Hon. E. A. Ransom, for bis work m connection with the Galatea land menb scheme, was paid by Mr. VY. JPoison (Ind., Stratford), when the Land for Settlements Account was under consideration in the House of Representatives. Mr. Poison said the deal made by Mr. Ransom at Galatea was one of the outstanding land settlement purchnss in this country. He had recently visited the estate, and was satisfied that its success was assured. “I wonder the Minister does not blush at the thought of the price he pai’J jofi Galatea,” . said Mr. Poison. ‘The Minister has a block of good farming land, as flat as a pan-cake, for something about £4 an acre. I think the Minister of Native Affairs, Sir Apirana Ngata,, had something to do with it. X am; satisfied Galatea is going to be a highly successful settlement.
