LARGE HOUSE DESTROYED
CHRISTCHURCH BLAZE TENANT’S HEAVY LOSS (Per Press Association.) ' CIIRISTOHURGIf, this day. _ A spectacular lire ,at Belfast this morning destroyed a 24-roomed boarding house in Bedford street, owned by the Canterbury Frozen Meat Company, and tenanted by Mr M. Sproit. The seven occupants were wakened by smoke, found the-house well ablaze, and made a hurried escape partly dressed. The fire brigade found it impossible to save anything. 'The flames were first noticed by men returning from a dance. The building was insured for £2OOO in the Alliance Assurance office, but the furniture was not covered, and Mr Sprott is a heavy loser.
