DISORDER ON WARSHIP
INCIDENT AT DARWIN OFFICIAL INQUIRY HELD SEVEN MEN DISCHARGED (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Received Sept. 17, 11 a.m.) MELBOURNE, Sept, 17. The Navy Office announced that seven ratings had been discharged from th«j Royal Australian Navy, and anothefl man sentenced to detention for SO days,) as a result of a disturbance on H.M.A.S} Moresby, at Darwin, on August 19. Ail able seaman struck a petty officer, and he was disciplined. It was report--ed at the time, although the commanded of the Moresby denied it later, that thei offender was put in irons. As a pro-j test, some other ratings locked them-1 selves in the mess room and refused toj open the door until the irons were removed. The court of inquiry considered the action of seven ratings who refused toi parade for duty when an attempt was! made, to restore, order after the disturbance. and the punishments announced are the result of these inquiries.
