FARMERS’ UNION

POVERTY BAY EXECUTIVE

The Poverty Bay Provincial Executive of the New Zealand Farmers Union met in the secretary’s office to-day. There were present Messrs .1. E. Benson, president, O. V. Smith, K. Brosnahan, .1. C. Field, R. B. Bull, D. •). Gumming, O. Teitjen, and W. T. Veitch. The secretary, Mr. C. Blackburn, reported that lie bad written to the chairman of the Meat Board again urging that Mr. E. EL Hale should he sent to Gisborne to continue his lectures on the pig industry. The writer added that men like Mr. Hale were needed to help the industry along in a district such as Gisborne, where it was in its infancy. A circular from the, head office suggested that it lie the policy of the union to urge that hospital finance should he a charge on the consolidated fund.—The meeting supported the proposal,
