Early Motherhood
HNE of the most remarkable cases of early motherhood, that of a gild who gave birth to a child at years «.f age. has just been virtually eon finned in India after two years Of research. Doubts had been expressed about the correct age of 'the girl when the baby was born in the. \ ictoria Zenana Hospital in June, 1932. Or Kean, the woman physician in charge of the case, convened a meeting of: doctors and X-ray photographers and other data wore filed of the ease. Now it has been confirmed that the girl was burn on October 8, BkU, arid was therefore 6 years and 8 months old when her baby was born. Leading doctors in India declare that although the girl was two months older than the ID years claimed, hers would be the earliest ease of maternity on record. In the United Provinces of India there had been reported eases ot 11 and Li-year-old' girls becoming mothers, but in the extensive records kept by the Government Maternity Hospital at Madras the earliest age of a mother was 13 years.
