POVERTY EAY CLUB Y ESTER DA V’S M ATCTTES ’Conditions in the open, yesterday were not such as to attract many bowiers to the greens, and on the Poverty Bay club’s ground there was a small attendance. A rink from Kahiitia chib turned up, however, to challenge for tho Thursday Roosters, the consequent game being decided in favor of the holders, the final score being 24-17, with the challengers on tile small end of the score. The defending l'ink comprised Briant, J. llankey, McKeague, Falconer (s), and the Knhutia challengers were. Lynskey, Campbell, Watt, Power (s). The home link took a throe on the first head, hut Knhutia then notched singles and braces on successive, heads, to lead 10-3 on the tenth head. The defenders of the Roosters then took a hand, and scored 4, 3. 1,2 and 1 on successive, heads. After that, there was little doubt about the issue, and the Poverty Bay rink extended their lead over the later heads, to Win by 24 to 17. In an ordinary game, Henderson and
Hartley met Sell and Wilson, and were beaten 24-13. The quarterly meeting of the Poverty Bay club will he held on Tuesday next, in preparation for the official opening of the season on/Jctober 6, (
