WATKAREMDANA VISITED
Aii enjoyable tramping trip, undertaken by two girls, members of the Hutt Valley Tramping Club, is flouring its •closing stages. The girls. Misses Dorothy Hush and Alary Sterling, arrived back in Napier on Monday Overling after having spent three or four days an the Waikaremoana district and 11 1 e lower part of the Urewera'. Leaving Wellington last Thursday they arrived in Napier on Friday morning, after being given a lift the major part of the way by car. Later in the afternoon they left for Wairoa by service ear. From Wairoa they tramped through the lake district, where they spent an enjoyable time. Describing the scenery on their trip, Miss Bush said : “The scenery around Waikaremoana is beautiful. We struck lovely weatlier there and this undoubtedly "added to the attractiveness of the views.
“From the lakes we travelled to the Urewera district and visited the Maori mission in the Mauugapohalu district. There we had' the enjoyable experience of eating in real native fashion. It was all extremely interesting.” The girls' are carrying serviceable canvas packs, each weighing approximately 301 b.. which contain all their food, blankets and other necessities.
