AUCKLAND SHIPMENT
rDISPATCH BY THE AKAROA
The first sliipment of chilled beef tq be sent from New Zealand to England, by a Shaw, gavill and Albion steamer will be loaded at Auckland to-day on' the liner ■'A kai ' oa > which is to , sail foi) London on Friday morning. When the Akaroa was last in England she was; Fitted . with a special chamber for the carriage dtf chilled beef, and 500 quarters of beef will be loaded. A trial'**shipihent of chilled beef was dispatched from New Zealand to England a considerable time ago by the Commonwealth and Dominion Line motor-ship. Port Fairy, and later, several shipments* were made on vessels of the Blue. Star Line, all of which are specij ally fitted for the carriage of chilled beeH from the! Argentine to England. In] anticipation of an increased demand for chilled beef from New Zealand, the 10 large motor-ships which have been ordered by? various shipping companiestrading !o> the Dominion will be fittedwith chambers for the carriage of .this beef, while there will be more extensive space! for other refrigerated cargoes. Three of the new vessels are fdr the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company.
