Twenty-nine head of stock* were impounded in Gisborne during August, and in addition 38 head were released oil the roads. Fees collected totalled €3 Is. Six building permits covering work estimated to cost £2IBO 5s were issued by the Gisborne Borough Council during the. fortnight ended .September 1. The permits were as follow :—Reinstatement of fire damage, 1, £315: dwellings. 2, £1(390; shop, T, £747; motor sheds, 2. £2B ss.
