The annual meeting of the Tokonmru .Bay branch of the British and Foreign Bible Society was held in the mission ■house last week, when the Bcv. Mr .Way took the chair. The meeting opened With a hymn and ,a* short 'prayer, ■after which Mr Way, read extracts from St. Paul’s Espistle to the CoriuJiians. The committee appointed for the ensuing year comprises the following:—President, Mrs S. Doig; secretary and treasurer, Mrs W. L. King; collectors, Mesdaines o’Callaghan, Newland, H. Oates and W. L. King-.... Miss Fawcett gave a very intwesting address on the work done by the -Bible House in Queen Victoria street, London, and stressed the wonderful work of the translation of the Bible in 667 different tongues, and added that over 442,000,000 Bibles .lave been issued in 130 years. Miss Fawcett was heartily thanked for her inspiring address and the meeting closed with a prayer and benediction. Miss Bartrum entertained the members to supper, which was served informally. Mr and Mrs C. O’Connell, of Panariki, Tokoinaru Bay, were entertained at the station house last weekend, prior to their departure from the Goast. The evening was spent’ very happily with music and dancing, And the guests of honor were presented with a handsome leather suitcase by their friends at the station.
