BARTER PROPOSAL
UNPAID GERMAN DEBTS SCHEME NOT FAVORED LONDON, Sept, 10. Germany has made definite proposals to the Lancashire cotton delegation with a view to the early payment of the £500,000 owing to British yarn exporters, by means of the barter system, but Lancashire does not favor the proposal, as it would require the establishment of a special exchange in Manchester. Moreover, cotton firms lack the expert knowledge necessary to market the various commodities successfully.
