AUSTRALIAN TURF

TWO CHAMPIONS AMISS CHATHAM AND REDDITCH SYDNEY, Sept. 10. Chatham, the most prominent Epsom candidate, was reported to be lame in the near shoulder after having completed easy work to-day. It is not known whether it is rheumatism or whether Chatham ricked himself. He is now receiving attention by a veterinary surgeon. A Mclbourno message states that the champion steeplechaser, Redditch, was seriously injured on the Mentone track to-day when he crashed right, through a brush fence, as though he had not noticed the obstacle, and fell on bib rider, L. Hynes, who sustained severe concussion. Redditch was unable to move for some minutes and received extensive cuts on one leg and a stifle, and other injuries, and will be out of action for at least four months.
