WOMEN’S GOLF

N.S.W. CHAMPIONSHIP (Received September 11, 3 p.m. j SYDNEY, Sent. 11. The final of the women’s golf championship between Miss B. Gaisford, the. New Zealamleu, and Mrs. Clive Robinson, captain of Australia’s Tasman Cup team, was commenced this morning. Miss Gaisford was one up at the nineteenth, but the players were all square at tho end of the round.

Golf of a high standard was produced by Kapi Tarena, who defeated 11. B. Lusk, of Auckland, in the final of the Hawke’s Ray golf 'championship by six and five. Kapi gained a valuable lead of five with a round of 74 in the morning, and had little difficulty in maintaining this lead to the end of play. CAie of tho most interesting features of the match was the fact that at the same tournament 24 years ago the pair were engaged in the final of the Hawke s Bay tournament. On that occasion victory went to Lusk on the last green. Since that time these two Lave met in a number of tournaments. On Friday the play of both was good, but the Maori gained a great advantage from almost, every too with the tremendous drives which lie produced.
