GISBORNE CLUB AN UNUSUAL SCORE ■ The attendance at the Gisborne green on Saturday was fair, and t.ho*aftctrioon’s play was marked by a most unusual incident, one rink being nine up on a single head. The game was between threes skipped by Branch am! Crawford respectively, and in one of the heads Branch notched the maximum, all the bowls of his side being bettor placed than those of their opponents. Results recorded during the afternoon were as under : Chamberlain, McCulloch, Branch, (s) 23 v. Waite, Williams, Crawford (s) 17. Pyke, Ohrisp, Henderson (s) 17 v. Rathsach, Munro, Robertson (s) 16. Shaw, J. Hav, W. Smith (s) 20 v. York, Allan, Colcmaiy (s) 15. Johnson and Murray 18 v. J. Park and A. llay 18. POVERTY BAY CLUB No fewer than 40 bowlors took part in Saturday’s games on the Poverty Bay green, and "the enthusiasm of the Poverty Bay club bowlers has been so keen that several rinks havo been occupied every day during the past week. The. Gisborne club sent a team to compete for the Saturday Roosters, and the “birds” now perch at Kaiti. The challengers, skipped by J. W. 11. Holmes, secured a win over I). G. Robertson’s team after a strenuous game. Up to the seventeenth bond there was no indication of the probable winner. However, on the seventeenth head the Gisborne team obtained a glorious live, all lyuig within a foot of kitty, and the team wont on to win a great game. The Saturday Ferns also provided r.n interesting game, Poole and Slight, tho holders, being beaten near the conclusion of the match by Daniel and McKenzie.
