CAR RUNS INTO POLE (Per Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, last night. As tlie result of his car crashing into a ‘telegraph pole at the racecourse corner this morning, when He was proceeding towards Invercargill, Arthur Broad suffered a compound fracture of the lower jaw, cuts, .abrasions and shock, and a passenger in the can Basil J. Smith, jun.,’professional to the’ Invercargill Gplf .'Club,, sustained a broken nose, a gash fit the base of the nose, cuts, and abrasions. It appears that the car swerved, on to fne wrong side of the road, .arid struck tlie pole, being turliOd completely round by the force of (he impact.
