DRAMATIC CIRCLE

RUATORIA MEETING The fortnightly meeting of the Ruatoria Dramatic and Reading Circle was held on Tuesday at the residence of Mrs. McCulloch. Almost pleasant and enjoyable evening was spent. The roll call, “My Favorite Author and Why,” was well responded to, and many laughable comments were made. The first two acts of J. M. Barrie's “Admirable Crichton” were read and very much appreciated, causing much laughter. The parts were taken by the following members: Admirable Crichton, Mrs. Hunter; Lord Imam, Mrs. T. Williams; Lady Mary, Mrs. McCulloch; Lady Agatha, Miss Smythe; Lady Catherine, Miss l’nnoll; Ernest, Miss O’Rorke; Rev. Trehune, Mrs. Lunkenj Tweeny, Mrs. Windsor; Lord Broclrieliurst,' Mrs. H. Akers; minor parts and descriptions, Mrs. Johnston. A competition, “Quotations and Extracts,” by well-known authors, was arranged by Mrs. Windsor. Mrs. Johnston carried off tho prize. A dainty supper was served by the hostesses, Mesdames McCulloch, Hunter and IT. Akers. A lmartv vote of thanks was accorded Mrs, McCulloch for the use of her room, end to the hostesses and those members who read the play. Those present were Mesdames Jolmhton, Dnlgaims, Littlejohn, McCulloch, Hunter, T. Williams, H. Akers, Lunkeu nnd Windsor; Misses Haisman, O’Rorke, Smythe, and I'niioH.
