RUMORS DENIED
SIR J. SIMON NOT JEWISH
LONDON, August 5. Sir John Simon has issued a denial in London of statements that he is Jewish, and allegations that his ancestry influenced the foreign policy of the National Government. Sir John Simon emphasised that he had not denied the rumors earlier, as they might have bean distorted into evidence that he sympathises with antiSemitism.
“I have Jewish friends whose patriotic services should shame the critics,” he said. “I would not for worlds hurt their feelings, or write as though their ancient and honorable lineage could possibly be a matter of reproach.”
