SETTLER KILLED

RUN DOWN BY TRAIN (Per Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., this day. Overtaken by an excursion train bound from Palmerston North to Wellington yesterday morning, John Henry Liggins, a married man, a prominent settlor in the district, was killed instantly when walking across a railway bridge at Tokomaru. The deceased was not aware of the approaching train, and was using the bridge as a means of gaining access to a property close to his own home to attend to stock.
