OBITUARY

MR. GEORGE McINTYRE

(Per Press Association.» .CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The death Inis occurred pf Mr. George Mclntyre, aged .91 years, qiye of the oldest surveyors in New Zealand. He was a meiuhgr of the first Hansard staff, later being a surveyor and draughtsman. He was appointed in 1869 gs qngineer-in-ehief of the Thames goldfields, and then became Secretary and first RegistrarGeneral of Jand, and had much to do with the'present system of land transfer in the Dominion. He took up private practice in 1874 in Canterbury and Marloorotigh.
