LIVELY WRESTLING
DETTON* DEFEATS MEYER (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, last night. Lively wrestling was witnessed in the professional heavyweight contest between Dean Dot-ton, list 71b, and Fred Meyer, lost, in the Town Hall on Saturday evening, when • the former won by the only fall gained. The bout went the full eight rounds. A fair attendance was treated to a good display of solid wrestling, brightened at intervals by more spectacular' work. Del ton gained the winning fall in the second round in a very peculiar manner. Meyer had taken his opponent to the mat; with a head scissors and wrist lock. Detton spun cleverly on his head to escape Meyer, and then gyrated across the .ring on his back, bouncing away, from* the 'pursuing Meyer, and as the latter beat down to apply a fresh hold, Dot-
ton caught his opponent, in the stom* dch with his feet, flung him high in the air, and then completed, the, fall, with a body press. CLARKE BEATS HYLAND .. SYDNEY, Aug. 5. In a wrestling match, Clarke defeat* cd Nybmd on points, each securing one fall.
