NEXT SEASON’S SHEEP WAIKATO REQUIREMENTS INQUIRIES IN GISBORNE The uncertainty existing in regard to meat and wool markets is at present preventing any forward business in breeding ewe's for delivery next summer. The Waikato is already endeavoring to secure an approximate idea of breeding ewe values from Gisborne, but sheep owners do not feeL inclined to put a price on their stock until they have a clearer idea of what it may be worth at the time of delivery in five or six months. Last year those who sold their breeding ewes early in the season were at a disadvantage, compared with, those who ■held until towards the, end of the year. Values for 2-th breeding ewes opened op in the spring at- about 15s, rising towards the close to about 225. Since then, the wool values have fallen again and the future of the meat markets is shrouded in uncertainly. A Waikato report states, tli.it a quota, lion has been made for 2-ths, delivery next summer, at 255. This is regarded as too high to attract, business, but Gisborne interests state that they know ol no definite quotations, for everything is too uncertain. However, one forward deal in wethers is reported from the Gisborne district.
