FUTURE OF COAL

REASON FOR OPTIMISM LIKELY NEW PROCESSES (British Official Wireless.) lice. 10 a.in. KUO BY, Aug. 3. Sir Robert- Ilornc expressed himself' a:: optimistic as to the future of the coal industry. He said that there were -opportunities for the development of the coal trade, which were only beginning to be realised, and he was confident that it would come into its own again. He referred to schemes now being developed on a large scale in the north of England for extracting oil from coal by hydrogenation, and declared his faith in the low temperature carbonisation process, which, he suggested, should be seriously tried out in South Wales. There was also a great future for 'pulverised coal, both in land arid ship furnaces.
