GEOPHYSICAL OPERATIONS Recent geological and geophysical examination lias revealed several interesting new features of tlio gold deposits in Southland and Otago, according to a statement made by the Prime Minister, lit. Hon. G. W. Forbes. Mr Forbes said it had been decided in conjunction with the Mines Department and Unemployment Board, to extend the scale of geophysical operations in various parts of New Zealand so that work could ho carried out at ain increased rate, and to this end additioinal instruments were to be purchased. The dominating consideration. in the programme of work had been placed under a committee consisting of the secretaries of the Depart ments of Research and Mines, together with the deputy-chairman of the Unemployment Hoard.
