HOMING PIGEONS
POVERTY BAY SOCIETY ANNUAL MEETING There was a large attendance at the annual meeting <>f the Poverty Hay Homing Pigeon Society, which was presided over hy Mr. E. Stephenson. The lion, secretary. Mr. J. F. Forster, in. commenting .on the annual report, which was adopted, said they had just concluded a most- successful year. Mr. \Y. Clark’s special prize for the best homer shown at the Poultry Show by a member of the society was won by Mr. E. Jackson. The thanks of the club were tendered to Mr. E. Stephenson for the rise of his rooms and for the .many other services he had rendered. A slight increase was recorded in the club’s funds, the credit balance .standing at £2 18s Bd. as against- 11s 6d 1. sfc year. Thirty-four races had been held during the season. 17 for birds sent as far as Christchurch and \ r f for young birds from as far as Woodville. The following ollice-lmhlers were elected for the ensuing year: Patron, Mr. 11. F. Forster; president, Mr. \V. Clark; vice-presidents. Judge J. Harvey and Messrs. 0. J. Fogden. J. Alexander. (). Hurt, J. Patterson (Wanganui). C. Watkins (Chrislehurch). A. 0. Cook, A; Rtoneham and J. Doherty; hon. secretary, Mr. J. E. Forster; assistant secretary, Mr. C. Alien; treasurer, Mr. M. ,Sharpe; auditor, Mr. 0. L. Fogden. At a subsequent meeting of the committee Miy F. Stephenson was elected to (lie chair.
