GOODS APPLICATIONS The following additional applications for the .renewal of goods service licenses were heard by the No. 4 Transport Licensing Authority before the luncheon adjournment to-day : — 1 H. L. Gann (Mr Beaufov), application for area license, for the Cook, VVaikobu, Wniapu, and Uawa counties for the cart age of metal mid local body supplies only.—The. applicant sought an amendment to- permit him to carry general produce, but it was pointed out that such an application would have to be advertised before it could be considered by the authority. Otherwise the application was granted as formerly, and an increase in the carrying capacity oi one vehicle was allowed.

F. R. Parker (Mr L. C. Parker), application for area license for certain ladings of the Cook County, and for a route license, Gisborne to Tahunga, with the right to carry two passengers per trip.— The application was granted as formerly. Clare and Clare, Limited (Mr N. H. Bull), application for area- license for the area within a 20-mile radius of the Gisborne Post Office, and for a route license Gisborne to Tolaga Bay.—The application was granted as before. W. H. Priestley, application for route license J’niia to Manga.tu and side roads within the Waikohu County, and Puha to Gisborne via Makaraka or Ormond and Wn,iohika. —The applicant sought an amendment to allow bun to operate over an area of 30 miles from Tc Karalm Post Office. This amendment was objected to by Mr P. C. Fitzgerald on behalf of the Railways Department, but after some discussion the application "'as granted as before, and as an amendment the authority proposed to grant an area license, for a 10-mile radius from the Patutalii Post Office instead of a 30-mile radius from Te Baraka. Mr Ohrisp opposed this on behalf of various other operators on the ground that they adequately met the needs of the districts into which the applicant proposed to enter. The applicant explained that the amendment was required only for a few odd trips, and it was not proposed regularly to visit the district in question. The authority refused to grant the amendment, pointing out that the applicant’s requirements could be met by a temporary license. J. Clark, application for an area license for the area within a radius of 15 miles of the Matawai Post Office, and for n. route license for the Matawai-Opo-tiki, via Waioeka highway for a distance of not more than 30 miles.—The license was granted as formerly. H. E. Monk (Mr D. E. Ohrisp), application for area license for the Cook, Waikohu, Uawa, Waiapu, and Wairoa counties, for the main highway to Hastings, and the area Within a .10-mile radius of Hastings, arid for the main north highway via Waioeka to Upot iki and Tanentua: —The application was granted on the same terms as before. P. Mitford-Burgess (Mr. Ohrisp), application for area license for the Uawa and Waiapu counties, for the Tolaga Bay-Gisborne highway, and for an area within a seven-mile radius of the Gisborne Post Office.—The application was granted on the same conditions as formerly.
