AUSTRALIAN ORANGES
FURTHER SHIPMENT SHORTAGE FROM ISLANDS (•Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, last night. In view of the excessive wastage in, the latest shipment of Cook Island oranges, due very largely to bad weatheij conditions and the consequent uriavokL able delay in loading at Rarotonga antjl outer islands, it has been decided tq permit the importation of a furthey quantity of 5000 cases of South Austra, lian oranges per the Waitaki, arriving about the middle of the month.
In.making the announcement, the Rt., Hon. J. G. Coates said that the additional quantity of 3000 cases would be for discharge at South Island ports and 2000 for Wellington.
The foregoing increase brings the total shipment by the Waitaki to 60C-0* cases for the South Island and 3000 for Web. lington and, with the Cook Island oranges now available and those to come, plus the increased quantity of South Australian oranges, it is anticipated that the local demand will be met. in the meantime.
