SPLENDID PROGRESS

MISS BATTEN’S FLIGHT TWO DAYS FROM DARWIN SINGAPORE', May 20. Miss Jean Batten, the New Zealand flyer, arrived last night and left for Batavia at 6 o’clock in the morning. She reached Batavia later in the day, and plans to leave for Sourabaya. Miss Batten left London on Tuesday, May 8, so that it has taken her 13 days to reach Batavia, making her time so far approximately the same as that taken by Mrs. Amy Mollison. The latter, however, was delayed in the latter stages of the flight and took 20 days to complete the journey to Darwin. From Batavia to Darwin is only about 1800 miles, so that Miss Batten lias a prospect of arriving at Darwin on her fifteenth day.
