CHARGE OF THEFT
SUM OP £B2 INVOLVED WAIROA CASE REMANDED (Special to the Herald.) WAIROA, this day. In the Magistrate’s Court this morning, before Mr. J. Macdonald, J.P., a charge of theft was preferred against Alfred Beard Talbot, chief clerk in the Public Works Department’s office at Wairoa. The charge related to alleged theft of Government funds, amounting to £B2 17s 6d. The accused, who was represented - by Mr. C. B. Sainsbury, was remanded until May 28, bail being allowed on his own recognisance in the sum of £250, with two sureties of like amounts. The presiding justice refused an application for the suppression of the accused’s name.
