While mending a break in the paper and threading it into the slowly-moving rollers of The printing machine at the Timaru Herald office recently, Mr. R. Skipper, a machinist, formerly of Wellington, had his hand caught and drawn in between them. - Although the machine was stopped immediately, portion of ‘it had to oe dismantled to free him. By this time the hand had been severely injured, and it was necessary to insert 18 stitches.

Both games were fast and exciting, and drew good attendances to the respective grounds. Keen interest is developing in the club oompetition, ! and also in the prospects of a number of players earning trials in the Poverty Bay Rugby Union’s representative team in the course of the season.
