DRIVER OF ROYAL TRAIN

A Christchurch message records the death of Mr. Khen Adams. Do retired 17 years ago from the position of an engine-driver in the service of the New Zealand Covcrnmcnt Railways and had reached his eightieth year. During his career Mr. Adams was employed as engine-driver on the Christ-church-Duii-edin express for 25 years, and was icgarded as one of the most competent drivers in the service. That this was recognised by the department is evidenced by the fact that on the occasion of the visit to New Zealand of T heir Majesties King (leorge and Queen Mary (then Duke and Duchess of York) he was entrusted with the responsibility of driving the Royal train. Mr. Adams was the recipient of a handsome piece of plate from tin- Royal visitors as a memento m their visit.
