Thousands of tons of cliff have fallen on the coast of Cowden, East Yorkshire, recently, and half of a cottage which is on tlie cliff edge has been demolished to prevent the building falling into the sea. The village inn is only 13yds from the edge of the cliff. Coastal erosion is taking place at tho rate of 3yds a year, and it is feared that within a. few years the whole' of tho village will have been swept away. The Board of Trade says erosion at "this spot is worse than anywhere else.
