riOVHRNMBNT’S POLICY A public address was given by tho Hon. C. E. Macmillan, Minister of Agriculture, at the invitation of the To. Arbha Chamber of Commerce'. The Minister said the raising of the exchange rate had been in the interests of the primary’ producers, and was acknowledged by leading professors and others to bo in the right direction. The Government had helped to keep the farmers on the land by legislating in the direction of interest reductions and mortgage adjustments, and (was now awaiting the report of the Dairy Commission for further assistance to dairy farmers. The Government accounts for the year ended March 31 were considered satisfactory, in view of the fact that they concerned a period of low prices.
