CLOCK TOWER
(To tlio Editor of the Herald.) Sir, —I would like to congratulate “Proud Citizen” .on his suggestion, namely, of floodlighting the town clock tower. .1 consider that this matter should receive the attention of the Beautifying Society, as such a proposal wbuld enhance the attractiveness of the monument. Also, it would create a favorable impression on the minds of those visitors who happened to enter this town by t'hc evening service cars. With regard to the cost of such a plan, I understand that at present the four dials are illuminated by 16 60watt lamps, giving an aggregate wattage of 960. Coukl not four spotlights of 250 watts each be sufficient for the purpose of floodlighting the tower ? There would bo no added maintenance, yet the beauty of the structure would be greatly increased. / Perhaps some person with more technical knowledge than myself could furnish details regarding such a plan. —I am, ete., • INTERESTED.
