NEW ZEALAND RUTTER

QUALITY AND MARKETING “MUST BE THE BEST” “Our products should bo of such quality that people in other markets of the world will demand them—'they demand our meat and lamb, and we must aim ,at getting our dairy products up to that standard,” said the Minister of Lands, the Hon. E. A. Ransom, when speaking in Hastings. ‘ ‘ Recently I had the opportunity of inspecting the East Tamaki butter factory, where butter is being made by the vacuum process,’’ he continued. “This product is of better quality, it has better sprcnda'bility, and keeps bettor. I thought its excellent quality was due to its being fresh churned*,,but I was given some that was churned five months ago by the same process and it was of the same excellent quality. After our butter is made by this process we want it put into pats and wrapped in New Zealand packets before tho eyes of our overseas customers. Recently I met ,an overseas distributor, and he told me ho used New Zealand butter for blending with the foreign-made product. That is something that we have to overcome. Our product must be the best and not an inferior article.” At a later stage, when referring to the market for dairy produce, Mr Ransom said the recent improvement in the market was encouraging, and forward sales that were taking place indicated a decided improvement.
