THE WEATHER To-day’s North Island Report. ® Blue skies were reported this morning at East Cape and Napier, but overcast conditions prevailed elseweliere m the North Island, with light rain at Opotiki and Auckland. North-westerly gales were blowing at Cape Campbell, Cape Palliser, and Cashpoint, and moderate to strong northerly breezes alsewhere. The barometer had fallen sharply since vesterdny. r I empcraturcs at 9o < lock were: Auckland and Tauranga 58 degrees, Opotiki 55, East Cape 57, Gisborne 60, Napier 63, and Wellington £6. Lough seas were reported at Cape Campbell, Wellington, Gastlepoint, and East ( ape; elsewhere moderate or smooth. Last Night’s Forecast Another of a series of westerly depressions is crossing the. boutli island to-day. An intense anticyclone covers Australia and extends across the north Tasman. Winds; Moderate to strong westerly to south-westerly, reaching gale force in many places south of New Plymouth. and Napier. Seas: Heavy south of Cape Egjnont, rough elsewhere. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong winds to gales betjkveen west and southjwest; rough to heavy seas.
