NOVEL PROSECUTION PROPRTETORS CONVICTED (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. In a reserved judgment delivered by Mr. E. l*aga, S.M., yesterday, it was held to be an offence to allow the drinking of liquor in restaurants at a time when licensed premises are required to be closed. George Ivathistideo and Peter Lambert, proprietors of the Blue Bird Cafe, and Giordano Zornbou. an employee, were convicted and ordered to pay costs, the police stating that they would not press for a heavy penalty, but would be satisfied with a conviction being brought under the notice of other restaurant keepers and the public. It was statod by the magistrate that although the proprietors were hot; present at the time of the offence, this was a case in law where the principal was liable for the actions of his servant. !
