TOWN CLOCK
(To tho Editor of tho Herald.) Sir, —Wo of this town have a most beautiful and tuneful town clock. Mr. Bruce, who assembled tho mechanism, has stated that “the citizens of Gisborne should be justly proud of their handsome and most modern monument.” If is regrettable, therefore, that we can admire this edifice only during the day. lly tho installation of four floodlights, the present dismal shadow and menace to traffic could be transformed into a pillar of dazzling beauty, the memory of which would be carried away by visitors to t'lie town. The initial costs of such a project should be comparatively small, while the upkeep in the way of current consumed should not prove great. Perhaps the Power Board could be approached to donate some current to this worthy municipal scheme. We sincerely hope that .our energetic City Fathers will give this suggestion some consideration.— Yours, etc., PROUD CITIZEN.
