DR. GEORGE J. SLY

The death has occurred of Dr. George James Sly, aged 86 years, a solicitor who for r6O. years practised in Sydney; MR S.ELLEN S.*&RANT- *| .«» /’ ‘ ' ' . ■ - V The death occurred at the Cook Hospital this morning of Mrs Ellen R. Grant, aged 59 years, the wife of Sir. John .Alexander Grant, of Darwin road, LKaiti. She had been ailing for about six years. The deceased was , bom in Glasgownnd at the age of 23 years married Mr. Grant They came out to Gisborne 25 years ago, residing here ever.'since. Besides Mr; •Grtflitp there remain to mourn their loss one daughter, Mrs. 2?V Lunken, of Gisborne, and three sons, Messrs. He was a recognised authority on wool and sheep-breed ing. There passed away recently at Dunedin an old and respected citiaen in the person of Mr \Vilham Hughson. Born " the most northern of the Shetland Islands in 1844, he emigrated to New Zealand in the ship Peter Denny in 1875, settling with his wife at Riverton.
